Alliance Housing collects and manages personal information from all of our customers, including housing applicants, tenants and residents. We collect this information to enable us to provide a full range of services. Information is collected, stored and managed in line with our Privacy Policy and in accordance with Australian Privacy Principles.

Alliance Housing will only collect personal information that is needed to carry out our duties, or where it is required by law and/or to protect the health, safety and welfare of our employees or any third party who has been engaged to provide maintenance or other service.

Rest assured that your personal information will be collected and handled in a fair, lawful and non-intrusive manner. While you are not obliged to provide your personal information, please be aware that if you choose this course of action, we may not be able to assist you with housing or manage your tenancy or residency appropriately.

 

What information do we collect?

We collect personal information that will allow us to identify you, including your name, address, contact details, household type and size, date of birth and income status. We may also require sensitive information such as ethnicity, criminal record or health information.  

 

Why do we collect this information?

How we collect your information?

Personal information will be collected from you directly. In the event that this is impractical you may authorise someone else to provide the information on your behalf.

Information is collected using a range of sources such as forms, emails, correspondence, phone calls and face to face meetings.  

 

Accessing or making changes to your personal information

You are entitled to access your own personal information held by Alliance Housing, subject to provisions of law which may however, limit or prevent some disclosure. If access is refused, thereason for this will be clearly explained to you in writing.

You may also vary information at any time that you believe it to be out of date, inaccurate or incomplete.        In this instance, please write or email us with your changes.

You can also send a written request for a copy of Alliance Housings Privacy Policy at any time. This is available free of charge.

 

Disclosure of personal information

Alliance Housing will not share your information without your consent, subject to the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988.  Alliance Housing may disclose personal information if required by law.

 

Correct and secure personal information

Alliance Housing will take all necessary steps to ensure your personal information is used and disclosed in an accurate manner. This includes confirmation that information is up to date and complete.

Personal information is stored safely and protected from misuse, loss, unauthorised access and modification. We take security of your personal information very seriously, we use IT security software and internal processes to ensure your information is thoroughly protected.  

 

Privacy complaints

In the event that an individual or organisation raises any concern or complaint about the handlingof privacy matters by Alliance Housing, this will be dealt with through the Alliance Housing Complaints Policy.
