As construction on the $3.25 million Donnybrook Bridge Street Housing Project moves towards completion, Alliance Housing is seeking expressions of interest from those aged 65 and over living in the area.

Alliance Housing chief executive Kay Shaw said she looked forward to hearing from seniors living in the Donnybrook-Balingup area needing fit-for-purpose accommodation.

“As a not-for-profit organisation focused on providing affordable housing in the South West, we are extremely proud to be able to pro-vide this 10-unit complex for the  Donnybrook community,” she said.

“Housing plays such an essential role in supporting quality of life and wellbeing as well as helping to facilitate connection to community.

“We have had considerable interest in the units and are still taking details from eligible applicants.”

Alliance Housing board member John Benson said the project was progressing well, with completion anticipated by the end of the year.

“All concrete pads have been laid and wall frames are well underway with roofing to occur soon after,” he said.

“Thanks to the forward purchasing of materials, timeframes have been met since Smiths Construction came on board and we are all happy withhow the project is moving forward.”

Donnybrook-Balingup Shire President Leanne Wringe said they were pleased with the progress Alliance Housing was making.

“Once complete, the quality of life for many of our local community members will improve exponentially,” she said.

The project is supported by the State Government through the Regional Aged Accommodation Program.
