We are pleased to announce that the first tenants for our $3.25 Donnybrook Bridge Street Housing Project have now moved in.
After an enormous effort by the Alliance Housing team, support from the McGowan Government, Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup and the South West Development Commission and plenty of hard work from Smith Constructions, it was a pleasure to welcome the eight tenants to their new homes on Friday, March 17.
Alliance Housing chief executive Kay Shaw said she was very proud that the not-for-profit had delivered the project for the Donnybrook-Balingup community, providing much needed accommodation for seniors living in the area.
One tenant said it meant the world to move in to her unit as she had nowhere else to go. Another said it felt like a million dollars and that she was very grateful, without the unit she would have ended up homeless.
We are looking forward to welcoming the rest of the tenants to their new homes in early April when the final units will be handed over by Smith Constructions.
Alliance Housing was also lucky enough to recently receive grant funding for the final two units of the project to be built provided through the McGowan Government's Social Housing Economic Recovery Package, drawn from the Social Housing Investment Fund.
Tender for the last stage of the project will go out shortly with construction hoped to commence later this year.
