After celebrating the official opening of the $3.25 million Donnybrook Bridge Street Housing Project in June, work is now progressing on the final two units of the complex.

Alliance Housing chief executive Kay Shaw said she was really pleased with how quickly construction was going, with the tender awarded to Smith Construction earlier this year.

“When we first planned this housing complex, there was only enough funding for the original 10 units, but we always hoped to be able to build another two in the future,” she said.

“These two, two-bedroom units were funded through the WA State Government’s Social Housing Economic Recover Package grant funding, which we are very grateful for.”

The units will be made available to people aged 65 and over, from the State's social housing joint waitlist.

“It’s so exciting to see these final units go up – the last piece of the puzzle,” Ms Shaw said.

“Anticipated handover to us from Smith Construction is March 2024 and we can’t wait to welcome the tenants to their homes in the new year.”
