Alliance Housing recently hosted a gardening workshop with Bunnings where tenants got to make bird baths and pot their own strawberry plants. The workshop was held on October 8, after tenants suggested gardening as a topic of interest in the annual tenant survey.

Tenants had the opportunity to get creative and made their bird baths from terracotta plates and decorated using pebbles and tile chips. They also got to pot their very own strawberry plant using the pot, soil and plant provided by Bunnings.

The tenants were impressed to hear the strawberries will be ready to harvest just in time for Christmas. The workshop came at the perfect time with the spring weather having just arrived, tenants will be able to enjoy their new bird baths and strawberry pots in the sunshine. The workshop ended with a light morning tea which was a great way for tenants to meet other Alliance Housing tenants and Board members. It was also a great way for tenants to discuss any issues regarding their tenancy with the tenant representative in a relaxed setting.

The feedback from those who attended the workshop showed that everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a great way to catch up and for tenants to meet other Alliance Housing tenants.
